What better way to welcome the summer than with a post about snowy Yosemite? Huh? Ha! The last few months have been intense with that little babe coming into the world. What a huge life changer! So, obviously it's been very quiet over here. I don't understand how busy mamas can keep posting when they're about to pop one out or taking care of a newborn, it's such a humongous job!
Anyway, I just wanted to share the last few stops from our road trip, and will hopefully finish this whole series very soon! I am also very looking forward to getting my analogue films developed. I wish I could do it myself but we don't have our darkroom equipment with us anymore.
Day 1 & 2
Our stay in Yosemite was unfortunately too short but I'm so grateful to have been there! One of the most beautiful and grand wonders of the world!
We arrived on the day after my birthday, in the afternoon, after a very long but beautiful drive from Tahoe. We registered at the very busy Camp Curry and got ourselves a heated tent! I was so excited about this little experience. Picture this: a heated canvas tent in the middle of winter, in the middle of the forest, with wild bears and mountain lions roaming around! Ermargerd!
After checking in we went to our tent and locked all our food and toiletries in the lockers outside so the bears won't be able to snoop around. We then visited the little village. It totally felt like we were in an American holiday camp, like in the movies, literally. Nothing European about it.
We then headed to the mysterious and hidden laundry room, as we were desperate for clean socks and underwear!
After looking at the lack of dinner options, we got ourselves a pretty nice pizza from the main cafeteria. It had an interesting vibe, a chalet like building with people queuing for ages while watching American football on a giant TV screen.
We then spent the night in our little tent, all cosy under our blanket. In the middle of the night I had to visit the loo; one of the perks of pregnancy, and totally forgot about the bears! And there I was, freaking out on a pitch black path to the bathroom, in the middle of the forest. Eerrr... So, with the dim light of my iphone I made it but not without a rush and rapid heartbeat! We had also heard some cars beeping in the car park near by, which is normally a sign of bears trying to break into the cars as they smell food. So, again, I freaked out, convinced that a bloody bear was crushing our car in pieces. So, not such a peaceful night after all, all because of my silly brain!
The morning after we got some coffee and went for a 4 hour hike in the forest. After walking for an hour, we were finally alone, and it was one of the best walks of my life. We encountered some deers and a woody woodpecker! Oh how much I'd give to be back there!
After our walk we grabbed some lunch and drove to Sequoia National Park, it was another very long drive and we managed to make it by the evening!
What about you guys? Have you been to Yosemite?
Next stop: Sequoia National Park!
